Monthly Muse: Best of 2010

Greek Muse by Karapas, Dreamstime

Due to my recent “Vanishing Act” I did not recruit anyone to write a Monthly Muse article this month.   So December’s Monthly Muse will be a review of all the guest posts during the past year. This is another great opportunity to read some inspiring, informative articles by some great guest authors and bloggers.

I have selected three categories to classify the posts: Body, Mind, and Soul!  Each article will be listed under the most appropriate category although in reality many of the articles could be listed in more than one category.  This is simply due to the fact that the articles themselves are about holistic topics, not to mention they are written by holistic practitioners.  Therefore many articles touch upon aspects of body, mind, and soul.

Check out the Monthly Muse guest posts for 2010 and enjoy!

Body

These articles are both about vegetarian diets.  The first article is written by Andrew Hall who currently describes himself as a “conscious omnivore”.  He gives some great advice on how to select vegetarian foods and still get adequate amounts of protein.  There is also a great link at the end of the article to great vegan and vegetarian blogs.  The second article “Simply Satvic” is written by a more purist vegetarian who eats a more restrictive diet based on the Vedic philosophy of “sattva” or purity.

Mind

These articles are written by a diverse group of holistic practitioners including a hypnotherapist, yoga teacher, life coaches and an energy worker.  “Be Here Now” focuses on living One-Mindfully, and “Enlightened Education” discusses the importance of meditation in education and consciousness based education.  “Yoga and Happiness” focuses on how yoga can bring happiness to your life, rather than describing physical aspects of yoga.  “Empowering Yourself” is a great article about using guided writing to clarify your goals and touches upon balancing your female and male energies.

Soul

Another diverse, thought provoking group of articles.  “Musical Mindset” written by classical pianist Maria Rainer teaches us how to incorporate creativity into our lives, even when it seems everything is already laid out for us in black and white, likes notes on a musical page.  Both guest posts “Life After Life” and “Honor Your Mother” discuss the soul’s passing from this earthly plane and the beauty of this stage of life, and how to cope with grief.  “Dance Your Way to Joy” written by my good friend and fellow educator (and belly dance teacher too!) shows you how to find joy in your life by finding simple pleasures and incorporating them into your everyday life.

What article piqued your curiosity?

How did this article help as you reflect on the past year and plan for the upcoming year?

Editors Note:  Usually the “Monthly Muse” guest article is posted the last weekend of each month.  Since I “vanished” for a while this month’s post is published a little late.  Beginning next month (and year!) the “Monthly Muse” articles  will  resume on the last weekend of each month.  Thank you for your understanding and patience
