If you call yourself a seeker or are interested in spirituality even a tiny bit, no doubt you’ve heard or read the advice to live in the present, be aware now or something similar.

“When you don’t complete the past, you can’t be free to fully embrace the present.”  ~ Jack Canfield

Many people, me included often find it  difficult to be fully present.  We are constantly thinking about Read More→

The End of Busy

“Doing nothing is better than being busy doing nothing.” ~Lao Tzu

Stop being busy and your job is half done.

Think about how busy we are, and how it has become a way of bragging: I’m so busy, I must be important.

“I have a million things to do! I never have time for anything! I can’t slow down — I’m too busy.” This is thought to be a good thing in a society where we must be productive, active, occupied. Read More→

Love Heart, photo by Niamh Savani

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, many people may be reflecting on the state of their current love relationship, or either the lack of such a relationship in their life.  Maybe you’re at the butterflies in the stomach, stars in your eyes stage of a relationship, or maybe you’re currently going through a relationship crisis.  Perhaps you’ve recently exited an unhealthy relationship and are just loving being alone. Maybe you never want to be in a relationship again.  You may be enjoying a beautiful, mature, yummy stage of your relationship where peace, passion, and tranquility reign. Read More→

It’s Time!

Vibrant Woman by Dolgachov, Dreamstime

I was just looking at the Super Bowl game on TV, and during a time out, a coach was telling one of the players “It is time …it is time”.  What a great affirmation and intention!

What is your secret dream?

What is your deepest desire?

What have you been waiting to do when the time is just right?

Why not follow the advice of the coach and affirm “It is time”!  Getting clear about what you want, setting a clear intention, and using affirmations to manifest your desire does work.

We often postpone what we truly desire and what really serves us until a more convenient time. We think that at some magical date or moment in the future everything will fall into place, and then we can begin our journey.  As the old saying goes, every journey begins with a single step.  Why not take that step today.  What are you waiting for? Your habits create your destiny. Have you ever heard that one? Even if you have, read it again. Then read it again. And yea, one more time.

Then, consider this:

Your habits also create your confidence, courage and even your creativity!

Its a Beautiful Day

Beautiful Day by Ranmor

I always play music in the background in my classroom, because it creates a nice classroom environment and I believe it helps the learning process.  The other morning as I was preparing for the day, I chose a CD I hadn’t played in a while and the first song that started playing was U2’s “It’s a Beautiful Day”.  When I heard the lyrics, I stopped for a moment and thought, “Yes, it is a beautiful day”.

Every day is beautiful and full of wonder, but we are often so caught up with the thoughts in our monkey mind that we fail to realize this. Read More→

Monthly Muse: Best of 2010

Greek Muse by Karapas, Dreamstime

Due to my recent “Vanishing Act” I did not recruit anyone to write a Monthly Muse article this month.   So December’s Monthly Muse will be a review of all the guest posts during the past year. This is another great opportunity to read some inspiring, informative articles by some great guest authors and bloggers.

I have selected three categories to classify the posts: Body, Mind, and Soul!  Each article will be listed under the most appropriate category although in reality many of the articles could be listed in more than one category.  This is simply due to the fact that the articles themselves are about holistic topics, not to mention they are written by holistic practitioners.  Therefore many articles touch upon aspects of body, mind, and soul.

Check out the Monthly Muse guest posts for 2010 and enjoy! Read More→

V is for Vanish: Disappear Within and Renew Yourself

I feel compelled to write about “Vanishing” because many of you may have noticed that I haven’t been posting anything much to my blog lately (thanks for your patience and understanding during this disappearing act!).  I had many good reasons not to write including foot surgery, teaching a community college class, and other things that I described in a previous post.   To tell you the truth, even before all these outward events and things collided at once, I had already started going within and felt like “hibernating” for the winter.  In a way this need to withdraw and reflect was partly due to the change of seasons, and mostly due to my own need to gain clarity on some aspects of my life. The Musical Mindset: Everyday Evocation

Musical Notes - Image in the Public Domain

Guest Post by Maria Rainier

Just as different colors can inspire certain moods, various types of music evoke feelings, memories, visions, and states of being. As humans, we’re inherently sentient, but music is a way to deepen your connection to yourself and to the world around you. Music has the power to evoke everything that is deeply human.

There are infinite ways to be creative with music, and each one can teach you something new about yourself – how you interact with the world, how sound can express your individuality, or what you can awaken in others with your music. From looking at the black and white notes on a sheet of paper, it’s almost impossible to think that anything creative could come of it. Personally, my musical training was a roadblock to my creative flow until Read More→
