About

Welcome to Avatar Arts!

“The Celtic eye has a great sense of that interim world between the invisible and the visible. This is referred to in scholarship as the imaginal world,  the world where the angels live.  The Celtic eye loves this interim world.  …They flow naturally, gracefully, and lyrically in and out of each other.”  ~  John ’Donohue,  Anam Cara ~ Spiritual Wisdom from the Celtic World

About the Artist:

My name is Niamh (pronounced “Neve”) which is a Gaelic word that means “radiance” or “brightness”.  I was born and raised in Ireland, and lived in London, England for two years in my twenties before settling in the United States.  I’ve travelled extensively throughout Europe, visited Mexico, and hiked through the rainforest in South America.

I’ve also widely explored the American Southwest and have hiked and camped in such places as Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park in Utah, the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell in Arizona, as well as Yosemite National Park in California.  I’m also travelled thoughout Colorado and New Mexico and visited remote hot springs in these states.  Much of the subject matter for my paintings comes from these personal encounters with the spectacular Southwestern landscape.

I walk in dual citizenship: I hold both Irish and American citizenship, and feel blessed to have two special places on earth I feel truly at home.  I”m passionate about spending time painting in my studio and expressing my visions on canvas.  My artwork has been exhibited in the Southwest and is in private collections in the USA, Europe and the Middle East.  For more detailed information about my art  check out my artist statement and biography.

“All true artists, whethe they know it or not, create from a place of no-mind, from inner stillness.”  ~ Eckhart Tolle

I currently divide my creative energies between painting, photography, and blogging.  I’m  also committed to teaching and being a professional educator. I’m obsessed with inspiring others to reach new heights of awareness and creativity. I’m a yoga enthusiast and adore both the physical practice of asanas (postures) and the stillness I find through meditation.   I received my transformational Life Coaching certification and Reiki initiation from the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe, AZ.

Inspirational Articles

”I don’t believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive.” ~ Joseph Campbell

Avatar Arts blog articles feature information on creativity, studio updates, Life Coaching, healthy lifestyles, and practical spirituality.  My unique writing style provides original insights and my personal thoughts on the above topics to help you truly come alive.   I post a weekly article that is practical, useful, and relatively short on words, but not on content!  If there is just too much good information about a topic for one single posting, I divide my writing into a series of separate but related posts.

In addition to my weekly articles, sometimes I post mid-week Transformation Tid-bits™ – very short posts with a related image or short video clip to inspire or challenge the reader.  Similar to Japanese Haiku poems: short and sweet, but full of meaning.  The Monthly Muse section of my blog features a guest article once a month written by a Holistic Practitioner, Life Coach, Artist, Educator, or Art Therapist.  If you would like to write a guest article, please contact  us.

Our aim is to merge creativity and spirituality to inspire and empower others to truly come alive and lead more conscious, creative, joyful, and authentic lives. Check out our Create Your Unique Canvas of Life workshops.
